QUESTION: IS IT DIFFICULT TO MEDITATE?

It is NOT difficult to meditate, in fact, it is quite simple and very relaxing.using our techniques.

QUESTION: WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF MEDITATION?

The purpose of meditation is to bring about a balance and harmony between mind, body, and spirit. The harmony already exists; all it requires is conscious recognition and experience. Although problems and situations occur in everyday life,  meditation helps you  to maintain a sense of peace within yourself.

QUESTION: WHY SHOULD I MEDITATE?

Meditation expands your awareness and unfolds you inner knowingness. Meditation awakens virtues and positive qualities in you. Thousands of scientific research studies in the past 30 years have shown the benefits to the body, mind, behavior, improvement in quality of life, and self-esteem.

QUESTION: WHAT IS PERSONALISED MEDITATION AND HOW IS IT DIFFERENT FROM OTHER GROUPS?

To be truly effective, meditation practices are individually prescribed and individually taught. There are many types of meditation techniques and an infinite number of variations within each category. The precise combination of practices that a person needs are dependent on many factors. For this reason in UKM, meditation techniques are individualised by highly trained teachers.

QUESTION: HOW CAN MEDITATION HELP IN MY EVERYDAY LIFE?

In daily living, we become more able to tackle our problems from a place of stability, calmness and greater creativity. We learn to turn that which was previously not joyous into joy.

QUESTION: IS MEDITATION AND UNITED KINGDOM MEDITATION A RELIGION?

No. Meditation is for everyone. You don’t have to be a religious person to meditate, nor do you have to follow a certain philosophy or belief system. UKM Meditation is available for all people. There are people from all races and religious backgrounds that practice the techniques that we offer.

Religions may differ at lower levels, but the meeting ground of all religions, at their highest level, is that God is love and love is God. If you are a Christian, Hindu,Muslim,Jewish or any other faith, it will give you a deeper understanding of your own beliefs.

QUESTION: HOW LONG DO YOU MEDITATE?

The length of time depends on the individual and their experience. Most people meditate for 20 minutes, twice daily.

QUESTION: HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

A suggested donation of £75 is given to UKM.

QUESTION: DO I HAVE TO SIT IN A YOGA POSTURE TO MEDITATE?

No. You sit comfortably or lie down to meditate. Allowing the body to be comfortable is important.

QUESTION: DO YOU HAVE PRACTICES FOR CHILDREN AND MUM’S WHO ARE PREGNANT?

Yes. We offer special techniques for both.

QUESTION: HOW DO I LEARN?

Instruction may be taken in a series of weekly classes or on a retreat. See Find a Teacher .

QUESTION: WHAT KIND OF MEDITATION DOES UKM OFFER?

We offer preparation classes in mantra meditation which allows one to experience deep relaxation. Initial instruction is given in a series of weekly classes by an experienced Teacher, with further deepening instruction on Retreats.Complementary practices involving visualisation, breathing,and pain management. Your personalised mantra and chakra techniques are taught by our Full teachers.

People today function with a highly developed level of mind, yet the heart or compassionate part of ourselves is underdeveloped. That is where our teachings differ from most of the systems in the world; with our practices there is a simultaneous unfoldment of the mind and heart.
